Time Apart - shortening the distances

Time apart and distances from our loved ones, through migration, exile is just something everyone has experienced in one way or another. This series of portraits of family and friends spur from the yearning of my siblings. We live far and away: Colorado, Peru, Bolivia and Miami. Even though we love and care for each other, the physical distance is just sometimes unbearable. So in order to soothe this, I started painting them, so that somehow they would be present, in the studio, keeping me company while I work. Later, I started painting friends that live in different parts of the world: France, Bolivia, Spain and Australia. Some of which I haven't seen in 20 years!
